Early Music
Youth Orchestra

Established in July 2017 with an emphasis on high-level performance comparable to that of the best youth orchestras in the world, the Early Music Youth Orchestra (EMYO) is EMAE’s flagship ensemble. Led by the EMAE Director and String Tutors, EMYO draws its members from those string players (violins, violas, cellos and double basses) who have graduated from or are enrolled on the LSA’s Advanced Programme.

It may be integrated by other professional players or by other young players of similar age and standard recruited nationally and internationally via a system of auditions and interviews. EMYO’s repertoire ranges from the mid-seventeenth to the early nineteenth centuries, is interpreted according to the practices of the time and executed without a conductor.
